Frequently asked questions
Yes! Well-behaved dogs on a leash are welcome. Please make sure your pup is up to date on vaccinations and comfortable around other dogs and people.
Absolutely! We’ll have a dedicated table where you can complete licensing on the spot. Just bring proof of your dog’s current rabies vaccination and any documentation about your pup’s spay or neuter.
Yes. Oregon law requires all dogs to be licensed. Licensing helps reunite lost pets with their families, supports local animal services, and keeps our community safe.
You can license your dog by completing our license application and provide a valid rabies certificate and payment. If the dog is spayed/neutered, you should provide a copy of that document as well for a discounted fee. Licensing is available in person, through the mail, fax or emailed to our office. You can pay over the phone with a debit/credit card for an additional fee.
Fees vary depending on whether your dog is spayed or neutered. Reduced rates are available for altered pets and multi-dog ownership. Check Benton County’s Dog Licensing webpage for the current fee schedule.
Licensing is more than following the law—it’s the fastest way to get your lost dog home. A licensed dog can be traced quickly back to its owner, which means fewer nights in the shelter and more peace of mind for you. License fees also support animal services and adoption programs that benefit the whole community.
