Benton County Concerned Citizens not affiliated with Benton County government
The Benton County Elections Office has received questions from community members about a group called Benton County Concerned Citizens. Allegedly, members of this group are going door-to-door asking community members about their voting status and the status of other voters registered at that address. They might wear lanyards identifying themselves as members of the group.
Benton County Concerned Citizens is a grassroots organization that has no affiliation with Benton County government. Its members are not employees of or volunteers for Benton County, and they do not act on the County’s behalf.
If Benton County Elections staff have a question or concern about your mailing address or ballot, they will contact you by mail. This could happen if election material mailed to your address is returned as undeliverable, your ballot is damaged in the mail and can’t be processed, or your signature on a returned ballot is missing or illegible.
Benton County encourages every registered voter to visit Oregon’s My Vote website before October 13 to check their status and mailing address. According to federal law, ballots will not be forwarded by USPS.
It is especially important to report to the Elections Office when a registered voter passes away or moves out of Oregon and intends to vote in their new place of residence.
